Yo, for those who don't know, I am planning a charity livestream this coming end of the year/start of next year. The charity will be for the AbleGamers Charity, a non-profit organization that develops specialized controllers (often called assistive technology) that allows anyone with disabilities to play games with a controller that fits their unique needs. Here are two examples of some of the special controllers they made:
THE QUADSTICK - For people with quadriplegia, the best way to get gaming again is to use your lips and mouth. The QuadStick has a joystick, four sip & puff sensors and a lip position sensor; and it's directly compatible with the PS3, Android, and many PC games that use a joystick, mouse or keyboard. Through the use of a 3rd party USB adapter, Xbox 360, Xbox One, and PS4 consoles can be used, as well as PC games that require an Xbox 360 controller.
STEELSERIES SENTRY EYE TRACKER --- It sounds like science fiction, but we can get someone gaming by merely staring at the screen. For someone who does not have any movement, the ability to play video games with only your eyes is nothing short of a miracle. We hear a lot of excited, "I blew up an asteroid with my eyes!" comments when we show this technology off at expos.
Why is this important to me? Well, I do have a disability myself and am an average gamer. But when I think about those who are unable to play games but want to, it feels like they are being left out. When I saw this, I felt like giving my support as it allows no to be left out. So if you're a gamer and you want to help support the development of controllers
Me and some of my friends will be playing some 4 player or more games from a set list I have planned, which is made up of:
Order of games and people depend on who has what I have on that day and who is on and the given time. We are set to stream for six hours total or until we hit our donation goal of $300, of course we'll increase our donation goal if we achieve the first rather quickly. (There will be intermission breaks as we might have stuff to do or food to get in-between) Start time is December 31st at 6:30 PM, so if you want to show support, be sure to come.
There are millions of people with disabilities who can't play videogames without expensive, specialized equipment, like our friend Jayden. AbleGamers helps gamers with disabilities by providing that equipment, free of charge. But we can't do it without YOU. Help Us Help Others: A day of gaming for you could mean enabling a lifetime of gaming for someone else! Will you help us continue providing these customized gaming controllers?
